Senior Occupational Therapist - TLCO OT Assessment Team

Job overview
The post holder will join the Assessment Team which is a well-established team with extensive skills and knowledge. It comprises of Occupational Therapists and Patient support workers providing assessments for equipment, minor and major adaptations, for patients within Trafford . Referrals are received for patients with a range of conditions affecting their functional ability.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with experience in managing a complex caseload who would like to further develop their specialist clinical skills and experience in a community setting, with additional opportunities to be involved in service development, supervising students and band 5's, and training within an integrated team. You are required to have advanced assessment and treatment skills, be able to manage a complex caseload autonomously and be a key member in the MDT.
Main duties of the job
To carry a caseload appropriate to role in line with banding and professional expertise.
To interpret and undertake advanced clinical reasoning to analyse detailed / complex clinical and non-clinical information provided, to make a justifiable assessment, contribute to the diagnosis and prognosis of a patient and to recommend the best course of Occupational Therapy intervention.
To utilise specific Occupational Therapy skills as required facilitating and optimising the treatment of patients

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of post graduate study relevant to specialism
- Appropriate relevant post grad experience working in a community setting and with equipment and adaptations
- Ability to work autonomously
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Student Accreditation
- Evidence of professional networking in area of specialisation
- Appropriate relevant post grad experience working in a community setting and with equipment and adaptations
Clinical
Desirable criteria
- To be able to utilise experience and clinical knowledge to enable effective communication when dealing with complex/difficult patient situations where there may be conflict and a lack of acceptance of a diagnosis, care programme and/or home situation.
Knowledge and skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively
- Knowledge of best practice in rehabilitation
- Knowledge of use of IT systems including Outlook and Excel
- Demonstrable experience of audit
- Experience of supervision of students and junior staff
- Evidence of working with people with multiple pathology and therapy needs
Desirable criteria
- Led service development project

- Current UK Valid Driving License , Access to a car.
