Job overview

We are looking to appoint a CAMHS Consultants to the J17 unit at Prestwich Hospital.

GMMH provides a wide range of Specialised services for young people in the North West and beyond. 

Main duties of the job

·                 Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service

·                 Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.

·                 Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations

·                 Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.

·                 Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers’ Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.

·                 Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.

·                 Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers

 

The unit is run on multidisciplinary lines with considerable sharing of assessment and treatment across professional disciplines and with full implementation of the Care Programme Approach. Consultants at Junction 17 may provide consultation to GMAC following their assessment of new referrals re suitability for admission, with occasional need for face to face assessment of complex cases. Applicant will be expected to manage up to 10 beds.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
