Job overview

The postholder will play a pivotal role in the effective delivery, utilisation, and optimisation of the HealthRoster system across the Trust. This includes supporting workforce planning, monitoring roster usage, and contributing to data-driven decision-making through robust reporting and analysis.

In partnership with the Trust’s Managed Service Provider (MSP), the role will ensure the consistent implementation of the Temporary Staffing Policy. The postholder will build strong, collaborative relationships with clinical and operational teams, embed efficient booking processes, and act as the first point of contact for all temporary staffing queries and escalations.

A key focus of the role is to reduce agency usage and spend through strategic planning, data insight, and effective negotiation with external agencies—while maintaining safe staffing levels and ensuring compliance with national frameworks.

As a core member of the eRoster and Temporary Staffing Team, the postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Trust to ensure rosters are safe, efficient, and aligned with service needs. They will also support the development and implementation of best practices in roster management, driving continuous improvement in workforce deployment and temporary staffing solutions

Main duties of the job

The eRoster & Temporary Staffing Facilitator plays a vital role in ensuring the effective delivery, utilisation, and continuous improvement of the Trust’s Health Roster system and temporary staffing operations. This role supports the development and implementation of a fair, efficient, and transparent rostering policy, while also providing expert guidance and first-line technical support to system users.
The postholder will work collaboratively with clinical teams, operational managers, and external partners—including the Trust’s Managed Service Provider—to embed best practices in temporary staffing and roster management. They will lead on system upgrades, training, and troubleshooting, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. A key focus of the role is to support the reduction of agency usage and spend through data-driven analysis, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
With a strong emphasis on customer service, communication, and continuous improvement, the postholder will act as a key liaison between departments, offering expert advice, resolving complex queries, and promoting the effective use of digital workforce systems. This role is essential to supporting safe staffing, financial sustainability, and the Trust’s broader workforce transformation goals.
