Job overview

The Receipt & Distribution Supervisor plays a key role in the effective operation of the Trust’s central stores at Prestwich, ensuring the smooth receipt, control, and distribution of goods and stock across the organisation. This role supports both the Estates & Facilities and Procurement teams by delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service that meets operational needs.

Please note - This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is responsible for supervising a team of distribution staff, managing rotas, conducting appraisals and supervisions, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure best value and product quality. Operating in a fast-paced environment, the role demands strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety compliance.

This position requires a proactive approach to stock control, logistics coordination, and continuous service improvement, contributing directly to the Trust’s ability to maintain a safe, functional, and well-supported environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Working in customer related role
  • Receipting goods in & goods out using systems
  • Previous stores / warehouse experience
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Worked in the NHS

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge of health & safety
  • Good understanding of COSHH & PUWER
  • Basic computer skills
Desirable criteria
  • Training on MICAD or other recording systems

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work within a team and under own initiative.
  • Physical ability to move larger/heavier items
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
