Patient Flow Co-ordinator

Job overview
GMMH Bed management and Patient Flow team aim to promote effective patient flow based on individual service users care pathways whilst ensuring least restrictive practice and optimising lengths of stay.
The band 3 bed coordinators are expected to provide administrative support to a senior band 7 clinician over a 24/7 period to ensure that all requests for admission are dealt with in a timely and professional manager
The role involves working shifts over a 24/7 hour period which includes some night work in a fast and busy environment and the team are looking for an individual who can work well under pressure ,shows initiative and is solution focused.
The post holder will also coordinate calls for on call psychiatry between 5pm and 9am for the 2nd line on call doctor. They will log all calls, contact the 2nd on call with work requests or leave a message if the on call is busy and make contact when available. Maintain a log of all requests accessible for each division that will support the 2nd on call doctor prioritise workloads.
Please note - This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join the GMMH Patient Flow and Bed Management Team based at Old Trust HQ , Prestwich hospital
The post holder will
- perform the administrative function of the coordination of all admissions and discharges to and from inpatient areas including OAPs and will be supported by a senior practitioner at all times
- be responsible for liaising with all Inpatient Units to identify capacity, arrange admissions and book transport to facilitate admissions, discharges and transfers as required in line with GMMH Policy and Procedures.
The team manages admissions and discharges across the GMMH footprint in a fast and busy environment . The successful candidate will be required to work well under pressure and be able to think on their feet . The team works over a 24/7 shift pattern so a commitment to shift work over 7 days including nights is required.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised competency based level 3 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. NVQ, B-TEC QCF, Apprenticeship), or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Good computer literacy (including use of Microsoft Office and Excel)
- Ability to work a range of shift patterns over a 24/7 period
Desirable criteria
- IT qualification or equivalent experience
- Previous mental health experience

- Able to display working knowledge of Excel (Interview)
