Job overview

We are excited to welcome Band 6 Children’s Speech and Language Therapists to our well-established and friendly team. We have some vacancies with a range of opportunities across the team including; community clinic, complex needs and social communication difficulties.

We offer robust management supervision, regular team meetings, great clinical support and training opportunities. You will develop leadership skills by providing management supervision to other team members. You will educate and enrich student learning experiences as a clinical educator. Evidence-based practice is embedded and CPD is actively encouraged. We work across education settings, clinics and children’s centres with parents, carers, education staff and other professionals. Main duties of the job

  • Take your place with us providing specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment and discharge recommendations to a range of children and young people with a range of communication needs.
  • You will provide specialist assessment for children with a range of needs.
  • You will assess, treat and review children in face-to-face appointments.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with children and families, other team members and health and education staff.
  • You will have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • You will work in clinics, education settings, children’s centres and family homes.
  • You will drive continuous improvement with your innovation and passion for developing new ways of working.
  • You will have strong presentation skills and enjoy delivering training to the wider children’s workforce about a range of communication difficulties, including developing, evaluating and adapting training packages.

  • Health and Care Professions Council – Licence to Practice
Desirable criteria
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist

Essential Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Well established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group
  • Well established knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
  • Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level
  • Well established knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group
  • Experience of diagnosing language impairment
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Alternative Augmentative Communication
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with Complex Needs

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrates good analytical and reflection skills
