Medical Support Secretary

Job overview

To provide a full and comprehensive PA role for multiple consultants and medical staff within the Salford Directorate.

You will be a well organised and experienced secretary with knowledge of medical terminology.

You will ensure all consultants and clinicians within your role are organised and equipped to fulfil their responsibilities. Duties will include minuting of MDT ward rounds, typing of medical and other correspondence, actioning any requirements identified in minutes/typing, along with coordinating clinical activities. 

Please note - This role is not eligible for sponsorship unless you meet criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and held continuously Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024.

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have a broad range of administration and secretarial experience, being able to work with initiative and sometimes under pressure.  The post-holder will work as part of a dynamic team supporting medical secretaries, consultants, clinicians and team managers in the smooth running of the Admin Services.  The successful applicant will work directly with the consultant, providing secretarial duties and co-ordinate and facilitate the dissemination of information to and from the team and be required to deal efficiently, precisely and courteously with telephone calls from service users as well as health professionals.

You will be a well organised and experienced secretary with knowledge of medical terminology. Duties will include  audio typing clinical letters and typing of medical and other correspondence, actioning any requirements identified in minutes/typing, uploading scanning including prescriptions and assisting the consultants with their diary management if required.

  • Relevant level 3 competency-based qualification (such as RSA or NVQ), demonstrable previous office experience or equal demonstrative experience.
