Job overview
i-Reach is the Mental Health Support Team in Salford working as part of a multi agency, blended community outreach offer with our stakeholder partners to deliver the Thrive In Education programme to education settings.
Band 5 Practitioners are supported to consolidate their learning, complete their professional accreditation with the BABCP/BPS engaging in individual supervision, clinical skills supervision as well as supervision of supervision once able to undertake further post graduate supervision training.
Practitioners are encouraged to contribute to team developments including taking part in NIHR research trials, co-production with young people alongside our MFT Engagement Practitioners, use digital offers such as Silvercloud and OsiGrows, undertake further training to maintain high standards of clinical practice and personal development.
Our extended offer includes pathways with Accident and Emergency, Salford Youth Service, Salford Schools Sports Partnership, Elective Home Education , Primary Inclusion Team and the Gaddum Centre. There are opportuntiies to be part of pilot projects such as Neurodevelopment in Education, Forrest School and The Body Project

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job are to deliver the Mental Health Support Team national goals:
1, Supporitng education settings with the delviery of whole school and college approaches to emotional health and wellbeing
2 , Providing timely consultation, adivce and signposting
3. Offering low intensity CBT informed evidence based interventions for children, young people and parents

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A recognised qualification in any of the below: An Education Mental Health Practitioner, A Children and Young Persons Wellbeing Practitioner
Desirable criteria
- Degree educated in relevant area such as Psychology, Health and Social Care, Child Development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties
- Experience of delivering low intensity interventions in school and education environments as part of IAPT training
- Experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
- Experience of gathering clinical evidence, reports and information as part of signposting to other internal or external pathways
- Experience of providing evidenced based assessments, formulations and treatment packages
- Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies within a community model
- Experience of caseload management, working within a multi-disciplinary mental health setting
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and impact on clinical practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families in CAMHS or a community setting
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Essential criteria
- Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation
- Understanding of evidence-based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice
- The ability to assess, formulate and manage care appropriately, ensuring discharge is timely and planned
- The ability to use assessment tools and outcome measures effectively and in collaboration with the child, young person and family
- To be able to function as a part of a multi-disciplinary community team and to liaise effectively with other agencies i.e., education, GP’s, maintaining positive working relationships
- The ability to reflect on and critically appraise the performance of self
- Ability to manage and organise own time and diary
- The ability to follow trust policies and procedures
- The ability to work independently in school settings with the support of case management supervision
- The ability to maintain clinical records both written and electronic
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering training and /or group work
- Demonstrable therapeutic skills
- IT competent
- Knowledge and understanding of the research process
