Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust for an Audio Typist/Transcriptionist. 

The post holder is expected to provide day to day support with the typing of audio clinic letters. To also support secretarial and administrative colleagues with the typing of admin and result letters and also to oversee the investigation log. To also complete admin tasks after typing letters e.g. sending referrals, communicating relevantly with secretaries.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a comprehensive typing support and administrative support to the consultants and their clinical team.
  • To also complete admin tasks after typing letters e.g. sending referrals, communicating relevantly with secretaries.
  • To support secretarial and administrative colleagues in meeting departmental objectives.
  • The post holder will have advance audio typing skills
  • The post holder will update the investigation log adding and removing investigations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English level C or above
  • Typing Qualification or significant equivalent typing experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in hospital setting or similar role
  • Audio typing experience (RSA II or equivalent)

Skills

Essential criteria
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to organise work independently and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good attention to detail

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the Trust’s current Information Technology systems (e.g. Medisec, Patient Centre)
