At a time of exciting developments within Adult Social Care and Salford Care Organisation, we are looking to appoint a full time permanent Principal Manger for Community Adult Social Care Services.
In Salford we are at an exciting and innovative point of developing and embedding community led support across our integrated services, maximising on strengths based practice and committing to enabling and maximising choice and control with people.
Main duties of the job
This is a senior management position with both operational and strategic responsibilities. You will be passionate about leading in a multi-disciplinary way, providing care and support to people closer to home, supporting people to live more fulfilled lives and improving outcomes for people. The role holder will also demonstrate strong ethical, social work values and embrace a culture of coproduction, learning and continuous development and improvement . In additional to this, this role demands a sound understanding of Health and Adult Social Care legislation and the national and local policy that underpins Health and Social care in Salford.
Working along side the other principal managers, the Heads of Service and other professional leads, in developing and implementing our strategic priorities, will be the opportunity to support the service take forward our vision for integrated services and ensuring sound social work principles are embedded within culture and practice

Qualifications & Registration
Essential criteria
- Registered as a Social Worker with Social work England. Or able to evidence equivalent management experience at equivalent level
- Recognised Social Work qualification, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS. Or Registered as a nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or other health professional. Or able to evidence equivalent management experience at equivalent level
- Appropriate management qualification
- Participation in Continuing Professional Development to improve and update specialist knowledge

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial post qualifying experience with considerable experience managing statutory services.
- Experience of strategic management within statutory services. Including policy/strategy development and implementation
- Experience of strategic management within statuary services including policy/strategy development and implementation and handling of sensitive policy issues across service professional boundaries
- Thorough understanding of strategic issues relating to an Integrated Care Organisation; Adult Safeguarding; statutory duties; the wider adult social care agenda and needs of customers.
- Knowledge of current national and local issues relating to ASC and/or the post holders relevant professional area.
- Detailed understanding of the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation and national policy frameworks which affect the delivery of adult social care and an understanding for the implications for current and future services.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with various partnership and other multi-agency groups across the public, private and voluntary sectors, in a creative and collaborative manner, together with a clear understanding of the neighbourhood model across health and social care in multi-disciplinary working.
- Proven ability to manage change, service activity and development within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience of planning and implementing long term strategy
- Experience of managing a large budget.
- Experience of successful project management.
- Detailed knowledge of Governance and risk management
- Knowledge and experience of delivering strengths based approaches to social work practice.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of managing staff from across health and social care
- Evidence of leadership in service change
- Understanding of health and social care integration agenda and associated legislation and policy
Desirable criteria
- Experience of implementing and leading in Community Led Support and / or Transformation in social care
