Job overview

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and friendly team of NHS consultants in delivering high quality cardiology services at Salford Royal Hospital within the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work with colleagues in developing and expanding services at Salford.

We are ideally looking for a candidate with a specialist interest in Heart Failure +/- pacing. In addition, the successful candidate will work with the team in integrating cardiology services into the community and with the other hospitals within the NCA. There will be opportunities for research, involvement in postgraduate and undergraduate education and quality improvement developments.

The post is a substantive post and therefore essential criteria include Full GMC Registration with a CCT (or proposed date for CCT within 6 months of appointment) in Cardiology.

If you would like to work in a dynamic, caring, inclusive and forward-thinking environment where innovation is welcomed, then we would welcome your application.

Main duties of the job

This post is required to bolster service provision for General Cardiology, Cardiac Imaging and Heart Failure services. The successful candidate will join a clinical team of 9 Consultant Cardiologists (1 LTFT colleague), 2 Specialist Registrars, 2 Clinical Fellows, 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners and 5 Specialist Nurses (SNs all in the HF service).

There is a 10-bed (monitored beds) Heart Care Unit which is supported by the adjacent 9-bed HCU step-down ward (including telemetry facilities). The Unit includes a dedicated HCU procedures room for bradycardia pacing (permanent and temporary), TOE, ILR implantation, urgent cardioversion and pericardial drain insertion.

We are a flexible and innovative department and wish to support candidates to include their chosen subspecialist interest into their job plans.
