Job overview
Working within Dermatology Services you will provide a comprehensive transcriptionist / secretarial and administrative service to the clinical team. You will be an important part of the team, working in a rewarding environment.

This interesting and varied role requires the ability to work well on your own initiative whilst being committed to teamwork as you will need to work with others to meet the patients’ needs.
Main duties of the job
- You must possess good communication skills; have the ability to effectively work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative, proven organisational skills and a strong commitment to personal and professional development. The department is extremely busy; you must possess the ability to manage a variety of tasks and prioritize accordingly.
- You must provide a strong commitment to improving patient services and ensuring the department continues to perform well in line with national patient measures. You will be responsible for implementing and managing systems for the office/team workload, ensuring work is completed within strict timescales.
Administratively supporting the medical secretaries, medical team & consultants, you will need excellent Audio-Typing experience, exercise your judgement and initiative based on experience and knowledge of arising problems and taking appropriate action to resolve situations.

Essential criteria
- English & Maths GCSE
Desirable criteria
- RSA II or equivalent
- Possession of ECDL qualification
- Qualification in medical secretarial studies
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate with patients and senior members of staff
- A good understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook, audio typing, hospital databases
- Ability to prioritise workload / work on own initiative
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience as a Clinical Transcriptionist elsewhere or as a Clinical Transcriptionist in this Trust
