Specialist Gastro-Intestinal Physiologist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

Gastro-Intestinal Physiology Department is a community based Salford Royal / Northern Care Alliance service looking to employ an individual who is qualified in GI Clinical Physiology.  The successful applicant will be competent and qualified (or at the end of their training period such as STP) in GI Physiology investigations such as anorectal physiology, oesophageal manometry and biofeedback.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for either a Clinical Physiologist or a Clinical Scientist in GI Physiology. You will be able to undertake anorectal physiology, biofeedback / pelvic floor re-education, oesophageal manometry and 24hr pH/impedance monitoring. You will have the ability to analyse and report your findings with a technical and clinical report. We also undertake a range of other investigations and treatments such as trans-anal irrigation, capsule enteroscopy as well as hydrogen breath tests. Although these are not essential to the role in the first instance there is scope to expand your knowledge and skills. Ideally you will be an AGIP accredited practitioner, and on either the RCCP / AHCS or HCPC register.
