Job overview
The post-holder will join a team of general paediatric providing services for Salford children and will lead the paediatric diabetes service. Clinics are held in primarily in Pendleton Gateway but you may be required to deliver services in other health and social care centres across Salford in Walkden, Eccles or Swinton.
Pendleton Gateway is a dedicated children’s outpatient service where the majority of secondary care paediatric outpatient clinics are held as well as specialist clinics for paediatric dermatology and ENT. The district child and adolescent mental health service, paediatric audiology, and facilities for allied health professionals are also based here. Diagnostic services for both general and community paediatricians are on site and include XRay and ultrasound and there is a daily phlebotomy service and daily transport of specimens to the laboratories at Salford Royal Hospital. Access to paediatric MRI scanning is at the Royal Manchester children’s Hospital.
The post holder will provide supervision to an ANP and will triage incoming referrals to the service.
Option to undertake out of hours work within the NCA general Patience acute services can be explored.
Please note that this role is currently Salford based, however, there is service development work ongoing across the NCA currently which may require employees to work at any of the NCA sites.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver general paediatric clinics and paediatric diabetes clinics, lead the paediatric diabetes team, triage referrals to the service and supervise an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
There is a remote on call commitment required for Diabetes across the NCA.
Applicants within 6 months of their CCT would be able to take this post in an acting up capacity.

Professional Registration & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Medical degree
- RCPCH membership
- Registration on the GMC Specialist Register-CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of paediatrics diabetes management or willingness to develop
- Experience in General Paediatrics including safeguarding
- Teaching experience
- Special interest in Diabetes or willingness to develop these skills
Skills & Abilities
