An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Network Manager to lead the North West Neurosurgery Network. 

The NW Neurosurgery Network formed in 2024, hosted by the NCA on behalf of NHSE and the three Neurosurgical Services across the NW of England.

The position is being advertised on a 2 year fixed term basis.

Main duties of the job

As a Network Manager for the Neurosurgery Network, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service, supporting clinicians and commissioning managers and staff across the North West region in monitoring and reporting the performance of the service, and creating local action plans to maintain access for all patients within the region.

The post holder will lead the provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated neurosurgery network capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements, ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

The post holder will define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Evidence of completion of further management training programme / qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate management qualification / Diploma in management
  • Evidence of CPD in relevant area

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
  • Demonstrable experience developing, managing and motivating teams/individuals to ensure success
  • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of budgetary responsible, including budget setting with evidence of working knowledge of financial processes
  • Experience of building effective cross functional working relationships to drive organisational agenda

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed communication skills with the capability to analyse, review and make sense of highly complex, sensitive or contentious information across a diverse range of subjects relevant to post portfolio.
  • Demonstrable skills in presenting complex concepts and information which may include difficult and controversial issues, across a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
  • Evidence of planning and delivering programmes and projects and services on time.
