Job overview
A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated pharmacist to lead on the Pharmacy Aseptic Services within the Salford Royal Care Organisation working closely with the Aseptic Pharmacists from Oldham.
We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist. You will be responsible for the development and management of the pharmacy aseptic services within Salford Royal Hospital, which is a MHRA licensed aseptic unit. Within the role will be the line management of the pharmacists and technical staff working in those areas.
You will ensure safe, effective, robust and auditable processes and systems are in place, in line with national standards and local policy and procedures.
You will be expected to assist the NCA Director of Pharmacy, the senior Pharmacy team to scope and deliver aseptic projects agreed under the Northern Care Alliance Pharmacy Transformation Programme. This would include scoping potential business opportunities.
You will need to have an excellent track record for implementing change, coupled with a burning desire to improve and succeed. In return, you will benefit from working in a high performing organisation where you will be able to enhance your skills.
Main duties of the job
This is a demanding but rewarding role which requires excellent time management and prioritisation skills and the ability to communicate at all levels both within and outside of the organisation.
You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain as a practising pharmacist and have experience of working in a senior managerial position within a hospital pharmacy. The successful candidate would require previous aseptic experience.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Vocational master’s degree (or equivalent) in Pharmacy.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant postgraduate Pharmacy qualification.
- Management Qualification.
- QP Qualification.
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Registration
Essential criteria
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (or equivalent).
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired through vocational degree in Pharmacy.
- Pre-registration training and experience.
- Significant post registration experience in aseptic dispensing/preparation/ Production.
- Good, detailed knowledge of appropriate legislation relating to aseptic services: production and quality assurance.
- Good knowledge of principles of aseptic preparation including TPN compounding.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of business development and the business elements of running a service.
- Experience working within MHRA Licensed Unit.
- Teaching skills and experience.
