Clinical Pharmacist (Band 7) – General Practice / PCN

Band 7

Job overview

Clinical pharmacy in general practice is part of an exciting programme of transformation which addresses our ambition to deliver person-centred, co-ordinated care across an integrated health economy.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an experienced and dynamic pharmacy team providing clinical services within local Primary Care Networks.

Do you enjoy working directly with people, dealing with a variety of needs and challenges, as well as delivering actual benefits and making a true difference? We pride ourselves on providing the best possible care for patients whilst creating a safe environment for our staff.

We are looking for enthusiastic and forward-thinking pharmacists to complement the team. We welcome applicants with or without GP experience. If you have the right skills and qualities, we can provide on-going support to develop professionally. Experience of successful change management and delivering education and training is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The clinical pharmacy role within primary care can pro-actively help patients stay safe and well and out of hospital, as well as helping reduce the demands on general practice.

The role supports patients to get the best outcomes from their medicines by identifying and addressing medicines related issues, whilst considering both public and social care needs. You will work within a PCN, providing clinical leadership on medicines safety and quality improvement projects.

The role provides a great opportunity to join a committed team, as well as having access to national training through the Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (PCPEP).

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and adaptable to change, with good clinical and I.T. skills. Candidates should exhibit organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and other stakeholders including patients, families and carers.

Working for our organisation

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Salford, to save and improve lives.

We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we are always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.
