An exciting opportunity to join The Plastic, Hand & Reconstructive Surgery team at The Northern Care Alliance.
The hub of our service is based at Salford Royal Hospital. Here stands The Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital, The Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, and The Greater Manchester hub for Dermatology services. Furthermore, the general surgery department hosts the regional Intestinal Failure Unit, with whom we undertake abdominal wall reconstructions.
A main focus of the department is our Orthoplastic service that provides plastic surgery cover for at least the above-mentioned specialities as well as our fully integrated orthoplastic Hand Surgery service and Limb Reconstructive MDT, looking after complex trauma patients who present to the wider trust across The NCA.
Main duties of the job
General plastic surgery with interest in trauma and skin oncology
- The successful candidate will be expected to organise their own workload
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Contributing to undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical and multi professional education activity including teaching.
- Participation in clinical audit and research.
- Conducting appropriate duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
- Multidisciplinary teamwork is envisaged as a key component of the working of this Trust and will involve Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) discussion with other colleagues.
- Development of special interests that fit in with the Directorate needs and the strategic direction of the Trust.
- Undertaking ward rounds.
- Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practice
- FRCS(Plast) (or evidence of enrolment) or equivalent
- ATLS
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree such as: PG Master PG Diploma
Professional Registration
Essential criteria
- Within 6 months of CCT, CESR or have CCT/equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree in research
- Formal teaching qualification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Interest and knowledge of audit / Evidence of completion of audits
- Logbook evidence of Hand trauma and elective plastic surgery
- Proven ability to teach
- Evidence of commitment to CPD
- Evidence of completion of audits
Desirable criteria
- Published in peer reviewed journals
- Fellowship trained
Skills & Abilities
