Exciting opportunity to work as part of the middle grade stroke team at Salford Royal Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), UK

We are a high performing centre with a dedicated and experienced team,  offering all acute interventions, with close linked to other neuroscience specialties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to:

  • Support and deputise for consultants in all department activities
  • Take responsibility for both in-patient and out-patient work
  • Undertake ward rounds, both consultant led and on their own
  • Assist the Division in the achievement of all out-patient and in-patient waiting list targets and quality standards
  • Undertake one or more research projects of his/her choosing

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

Essential criteria
  • Full Registration with GMC
  • Full MRCP
  • Experience in stroke care at SHO or SpR level or stroke research level
  • Clinical experience in General Medicine at SHO or SpR level
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum of 1 years experience at SpR level
  • Experience of MDT working

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent Acute Medicine Experience
  • 4 years Regular Service in General Medicine, at SHO level or above
Desirable criteria
  • Recent experience working within Stroke Services
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Disposition

Essential criteria
  • Interest in Stroke Medicine
  • Evidence of being a good team member
  • Active interest in research and audit
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualities
  • Research Interest
  • Recognition of the importance of rehabilitation in stroke illness

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of the major risk factors for stroke at a population level and at the level of the individual.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of specific needs of stroke patients and carers, issues relating to service provision for stroke patients in hospital and the community
  • Ability and enthusiasm to teach medical undergraduates and Allied Health Professionals.
  • Personal participation in audit
