We are delighted to offer this opportunity at our Major Trauma Centre which is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

The Major Trauma Centre itself has state-of-the-art Theatre facilities at and is based at our Salford site. 

This is an exciting opportunity and we need a committed individual who feels they can provide leadership to improve the quality of patient care and staff experience whilst safely reducing costs.

We are looking for a team member who can demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills and demonstrate team working across the Trust, with a high standard of organisational skills, and the ability to work independently. You should  be capable of making informed clinical decisions, often in complex situations.

You will need to be particularly committed to the key role of educating and supporting  juniors in the theatre environment showing excellent clinical leadership and people management skills.

Main duties of the job

We currently have 24 theatres over 3 areas covering Neurosurgery, Trauma, Spinal Surgery, Renal, Pain, ENT, Angiography, MR Scan, Urology, Gynae, Dental, Upper and Lower GI, Orthopaedic and we provide a dedicated 24 hour Emergency service. 

The Recovery service covers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Due to the nature of the complexity of procedures in different  specialities, various shift patterns are required to cover the service, including day shifts (early/late), long days, weekends, twilights, and nights. 

You should have substantial post qualification experience, mentorship/educator experience and have a portfolio that demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional development. There will be additional responsibilities that will be allocated by the team leader. There is an expectation to be flexible in your approach to the role, and demonstrate commitment to delivering the needs of the service. 

The main duties of the the job include:

  • Clinical leadership within a fast-paced, complex recovery unit.
  • Ensuring safe staffing across multiple areas/services.
  • Decision-making and problem solving in a range of clinical and non-clinical settings. 
  • Communication with different groups of staff across the Trust.
  • Managing resources effectively to safely reduce costs
  • Ensuring patients are receiving high quality post op care.
  • Performance management of team
  • Management of sickness absence and provide necessary support to staff
