Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Senior Clinical Fellow within Trauma, Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery at Salford Royal Hospital.

This is a Fixed term post which will provide an opportunity for the appointee to learn and develop a wide range of sub speciality skills in the management of Orthopaedics. 

The appointee will be expected to participate fully in the provision of Major Trauma Hospital services to the residents of Salford. It is proposed that the appointee will provide 10 PA’s per week (9 PA’s DCC and 1 SPA) which will include outpatient clinics, elective operating theatre lists, major trauma, administration and on call.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be based at Salford Royal Hospital with elective lists predominantly at Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary

The successful candidate must have  full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practice.

You will be given active support with basic science and clinical research / audit and will be expected to present and publish this work as appropriate.

Qualifications & Registration

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise
  • M.B.Ch.B or Equivalent
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • An appropriate higher qualification in Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • ATLS
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree such as : FRCS T&O PG Master PG Diploma
  • 4 or more years Orthopaedics experience
  • Evidence of research and Audit

  • Eligible to live & work in the UK

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • 1 year Registrar level experience Competence within general trauma surgery.
  • Interest and knowledge of audit
  • Evidence of completion of audits
  • Published research or audits or case reports in peer reviewed journals
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree in research
  • Reviewer for medical journals

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to teach Evidence of commitment to CPD

  • Formal teaching qualification
