Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated health care assistant to join ward H5.  H5 is a neurosurgery emergency admissions unit which looks after patients with bleeds on the brain, brain tumours, traumatic brain injury, ENT and spinal patients. 
The team has a multi-disciplinary focus in order to ensure that patients are supported throughout their inpatient stay.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated health care assistant with a passion for delivering high standards of care. The ward receives patients from throughout the Greater Manchester region, accepting transfers in and out and therefore excellent communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

Ward H5 is an emergency admissions unit for patients with neurological, spinal or ENT issues 

You will be supported on the ward by the wide range of the MDT members and a supportive preceptor-ship period. 

You will need to be able to demonstrate :-

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Aspire to deliver excellent standards of care
  • Be able to work collaboratively with all members of the MDT
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients and their relatives
  • You will be expected to carry out clinical skills including venepuncture and cannulation, ECG recording, monitor patients record vital signs.
  • Document patient care concisely on EPR.
  • Support the nursing, therapy and medical teams.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

  • Able to demonstrate venepuncture and Cannulation skills
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office Programmes and data inputting
  • Experience of dealing with people and the general public
  • Ability to work under supervision accepting direction
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of caring for patients with spinal conditions
  • Experience of working within a healthcare setting
