Job overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Cared For Children Service in Tameside and Glossop CAMHS. This post is a one year fixed term maternity cover: it would be ideal for a Clinical Psychologist already experienced in working with cared for children to step up into a clinical leadership role, or an established clinical leader seeking a new specialty.

You will lead a small team of a clinical psychologist, senior mental health practitioner, assistant psychologist and admin support, to deliver a high quality consultation-led service for Cared For Children. Using trauma-informed and trauma-responsive approaches to service provision, you will provide advice and support for the network around the child, including foster carers, social workers and education specialists, though consultation, training and attendance at network meetings.

Main duties of the job

You will be proficient in formulation driven care planning, and have experience working with children and young people with highly complex needs. You will be responsible for clinical supervision of the team, maintaining oversight of the team’s caseload and team job planning, and holding relationships with partners within and outside the NHS. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining systems that enable us to evidence our Cared For Children are getting a good service from CAMHS.

You will be able to hold a small therapeutic caseload. Experience in DDP is an advantage for this post, but we also welcome applicants with skills in compassion-focussed and trauma-focussed CBT, or MBT.

Working for our organisation

We are proud to provide high quality mental health and learning disability services, both inpatient and in the community across five boroughs of Greater Manchester - Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside and Glossop.

Our vision is for a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in our communities and our staff work hard to deliver the very best care for the people who use our services. We’re really proud of our #PennineCarePeople and do everything we can to make sure we’re a great place to work.

All individuals regardless of race, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage and civil partnership are encouraged to apply for this post. We would also encourage applications from individuals with a lived experience of mental illness, either individually or as a carer.

If you come and work for us we will offer a range of benefits and opportunities, including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement for Agenda for Change and Medical and Dental staff.
  • Flexible working opportunities to support your work/life balance
  • Access to Continued Professional Development
  • Involvement in improvement and research activities
  • Health and Wellbeing activities and access to an excellent staff wellbeing service
  • Access to staff discounts across retail, leisure and travel

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is an exciting time to join Pennine Care, as we develop our Trust Wide enhanced offer for cared for children. You will join a supportive peer group of five other Principal Clinical Psychologists specialising in working for cared for children, and be part of a growing community of practice in the Trust. Clinical and leadership supervision will be provided by the Trust Wide Strategic Lead for Cared For Children, line management will be held within CAMHS, and you will be supported to develop your clinical practice including access to DDP supervision as appropriate.
