Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic MHST Team Manager (Band 7) to lead our Mental Health Support Teams. This senior role offers the chance to manage, supervise, and inspire a skilled team making a real impact on young lives. As Team Manager, you’ll oversee high-quality, evidence-based care, support staff development, and drive service improvement. You’ll collaborate with education providers, local authorities, and partners to ensure integrated, effective support for children, young people, and their families.
Main duties of the job
- As MHST Team Manager, you’ll lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, evidence-based mental health support to children and young people. You’ll oversee clinical assessments, risk management, and care planning, ensuring robust record-keeping and data quality. You’ll manage caseloads, coordinate referrals, and facilitate regular team meetings. Through clinical and line management supervision, you’ll drive staff development, recruitment, and performance. Working in partnership with schools, local authorities, and community stakeholders, you’ll contribute to service improvement, audits, and outcome monitoring. You’ll also support national and local priorities aligned with Trust objectives, champion safeguarding and equality, and promote continuous professional development, helping shape the future of MHST services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- We are looking for someone who: • Holds a recognised professional registration (e.g. nursing, social work, HCPC) or is a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner, with current registration. • Has substantial post-qualification experience in child and adolescent mental health services, MHST, or adult mental health settings. • Demonstrates strong leadership in managing and supervising multidisciplinary teams, including overseeing clinical assessments, risk management, and care planning. • Is confident in providing both clinical and line management supervision, supporting staff development, recruitment, and performance. • Has highly developed knowledge of mental health issues affecting children and young people, and is skilled in implementing evidence-based interventions and service improvement. • Is committed to partnership working with schools, local authorities, and community stakeholders, and to promoting safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development. Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professionally registered qualification with current registration with NMC, Social Work England or HCPC OR Children and young person wellbeing practitioner- must be registered with the BABCP/BPS OR Educational mental health practitioner- must be registered with the BABCP/BPS
Desirable criteria
- Completion of Preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher / Fieldwork Educator qualification.
- Management or leadership qualification, or training for supervision and staff development.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial post qualification experience of working within a health delivered child and adolescent mental health service or Mental health support teams or adult mental health services
- Experience in the provision of clinical and line management supervision and annual appraisal
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Highly developed knowledge of mental health issues in children and young people
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and National Policies in relation to children and young people.
- Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group
- Working knowledge of NICE guidance in the treatment of mental health problems for children and young people
- Knowledge of risk management issues
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning disability
- Evidence of Post qualifying training courses/ certificates
