Job overview
We are a 16-bed inpatient unit based at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.
We provide mental health rehabilitation and high support to men over 50 who have a severe and enduring mental health issue, like schizophrenia, and are ready to step down from a medium or low security setting.
We have a proven track record in managing patients who have spent a substantial period of time in a secure environment.
Many of our patients also have varying degrees of cognitive impairment and physical illness.
The typical length of stay is two to five years, although longer term placements can be offered if required.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor, full time at 37.5 hrs per week, working in an In-patient stepdown rehabilitation setting .This role will involve working with individuals who have serious mental health conditions. You will work closely with the Occupational Therapists to meet patient orientated goals and support progression through a recovery pathway.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor who is person-centered in their approach and enthusiastic about working within a recovery focused environment that offers empowerment for our patients. We support patients to build on their strengths, remain positive about their lives and provide support to transition from an inpatient environment to the community.
Successful applicants should demonstrate the ability to maintain high standards of patient care and be responsible for the promotion and application of Occupational Therapy with support from a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will need a specific interest in working in a busy, challenging and complex setting.

- Good general level of education to GCSE level.
