Sister/Charge Nurse - Cardiac Pacing Suite 

Band 6

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 sister/ charge nurse to join the Cardiac Pacing Suite team.

The post will be working alongside the existing innovative multidisciplinary team, providing care to the patients undergoing permanent pacemaker implantation, ILR implants and transoesophageal echocardiograms.

The role will also require the candidate to assist with nurse led DC cardioversion service for the hospital, preparing patients to undergo the procedure as well as performing them once competent to do so. 

This post will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to develop their managerial skills as well as improve their clinical expertise.  As a small and friendly team we offer full support to our team members and encourage professional advancement.  

Experience in cardiology is essential, as you will be a role model in providing the highest standard of care to our cardiac patients.  We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic individual who can add their skills to our evolving cardiac service.

Experience in a theatre environment is desirable. ECG interpretation skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Caring for patients undergoing cardiac procedures
  • Providing care and information to patients pre and postoperatively 
  • Coordinating pacing lists and leading the Cardiac Pacing Suite team along side the existing senior nurse
  • Liaising with the cardiology MDT to ensure lists run smoothly -good communication skills required
  • Providing pre procedure assessment for the DC cardioversion service
  • Carrying out DC cardioversions once trained and competent
  • Assisting with administration within the department 
  • Carrying out audit activity in line with trust policy
  • Providing and assisting with training relevant to the job role
  • Deputising for ward manager in their absence
  • Attendance management within the team
  • Appraisal of staff
