Job overview
The successful candidate will join the innovative specialist nurses within a highly motivated Continence Service. The team consists of nurses and administrative support . They will also be working closely with urologists from the specialist centre at Stepping Hill, providing support for patients in primary and secondary care.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Continence Specialist Nurse will be to offer high level clinical assessments and reviews to patients in a nurse-led community clinic and in their own home, implementing a clinical care plan to support the patient in their home environment.
The post holder will demonstrate a good level of understanding of bladder and bowel conditions, and associated disorders, and be able to translate that into practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
It will be expected that the post holder will have a sound understanding of the community specialist nurse role and have a firm knowledge of utilisation of other allied health professionals within community services.
They will be expected to demonstrate that they can monitor and improve standards of care through audit and supervision, evidence based practice, learning and development.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on NMC Register
- Relevant experience in the area of continence
- Valid Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of degree level qualification in health/nursing related studies or evidence of continuing academic progression/study in combination with equivalent experience
- Management or leadership experience with appropriate CPD
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate an awareness of national guidelines in relation to management of continence
- Evidence of management and leadership
- Computer literacy- using current healthcare systems, use of presentation programmes.
Desirable criteria
- The ability to demonstrate innovative practice and/or service change
- Evidence of current continuing professional development (CPD)
