Senior Physiotherapist - Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS), Band 6 (18.75 hours a week)

We are offering an opportunity to join the Pelvic Health Therapy Service as a band 6 perinatal senior physiotherapist with opportunities in:

  • Antenatal and postnatal pelvic health
  •  One to one and group sessions across a broad range of pelvic health conditions
  •  Gynaecological clinics
  •  Colo-rectal multi-disciplinary specialist clinics
  •  Management of self-referrals
  •  Innovative ways of working

Candidates need to have a passion for promoting pelvic health in the perinatal population. They will also have affiliate membership of POGP or relevant experience working within the specialty of pelvic health and be interested in personal and service development.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • To provide physiotherapy management for antenatal and postnatal patients with urinary, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction. This will be in a variety of outpatient and group settings across Stockport.
  •  To support leadership and work within the team, providing an effective and evidence based service through assessing, planning and implementing treatment programmes.
  •  To assume responsibility for personal development and supporting the development and supervision of others by CPD (continuing professional development), linked to appraisal.
  •  To support evaluation and service development in the clinical area in line with national and local drivers.

Candidates will have:

  •  Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  •  Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Candidates will have: 

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
  •  Experience of working in the NHS in the UK
  •  Completed or working towards completion of relevant post graduate training e.g. POGP short course or equivalent.
  •  Ability to support and motivate a team, resolving operational and individual problems as they arise.
  • Skills in providing education and supervision to staff and students.
  • Positive interpersonal skills to be able to communicate appropriately with staff, carers and patients
  •  Competent IT skills
  •  Ability and willingness to travel to sites across Stockport

 If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • State Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of CSP
  • Evidence of CPD postgraduate learning related to physical/psychological health Awareness of relevant specialist interest groups

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and application of standardised assessments for specific conditions.
  • Knowledge of therapy outcome measures for specific conditions
  • Computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Nice Guidance, current research and recommended practice
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of intermediate care and community/support services.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of discharge planning processes.
  • Up to date in professional practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist
  • Experience working with conditions with complex symptom presentation
  • Experience working with individuals with Long Term Health Conditions and conditions within allocated specialities
  • Experience supporting junior staff, support staff
  • Post registration experience in speciality
Desirable criteria
  • Experience supporting students.
  • Experience of working as part of a Multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience triaging GP referrals,
  • Experience of research or audit.
