Facilities Operative
Band 2 - 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arose within the Logistics team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will be working within the Logistics department's Waste Team, conducting waste disposal and site cleanliness duties.
Waste Management is an essential part of keeping a Hospital site safe, clean and operational and the post holder will be a key component in facilitating this.
As the safe management of waste is a daily requirement for our site, shift patterns have been created to support this and will be discussed at interview
Main duties of the job
Ensure communal areas are kept clear, inclusive of corridors and the Main Entrance.
Remove full waste bins from internal and external waste holds (domestic & clinical) and replace with empty bins.
Remove dirty laundry from allocated areas and replace with clean linen
Move office furniture and equipment, including office moves from one location to another
To work as a team member with flexibility for all areas of the department as and when required
Any other ad hoc duties as requested by your Line Manager.
To empty all external waste bins daily.
To empty the brown cardboard bins and bail using the cardboard bailer, ensuring correct use of handling and operating the equipment.
To assist compacting waste.
To collect all confidential red bins once full and exchange for empty red bins in scheduled areas.
To collect all sharps, cytoxic, anotomical and pharmaceutical waste from all wards and departments, ensuring the cytoxic and pharmaceutical waste is stored securely as instructed.
To sweep set areas as identified by the Supervisor/Manager as and when instructed.
To be familiar with and follow health and safety policy and procedures and to be aware of individual responsibilities under legislation, drawing any areas of potential risk to the managers.
To undertake any other duties which is deemed appropriate to the grade when requested by Senior Staff
