Job overview
As the Named Nurse/Professional for Adult Safeguarding you will be responsible for to ensuring that the Wigan Division and Trust carries out its statutory duties with respect to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Adult and Children.
To assist with the development and implementation of the Trust’s and Local safeguarding agenda, and ensure that Trust policies, procedures and governance systems meet statutory and national requirements in relation to safeguarding.
To support the Wigan Senior Leadership Team and Corporate Safeguarding Team to ensure engagement and contribution to multi-agency safeguarding work alongside specialist safeguarding professionals from other organisations and bodies, including Adult’s social care, education and health, and in the planning and development of strategies for safeguarding.
To ensure that safeguarding concerns are monitored and dealt with in a timely and effective way.
Main duties of the job
To share learning from both national and local case reviews, complaints, incidents or near misses related to the safeguarding of Adults.
To provide specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, that is consistent with the requirements of safeguarding legislation, related guidance and relevant Local Safeguarding Adult’s Boards/Partnerships.
To continually raise the profile and staff awareness of Adult safeguarding for staff who work with adults and young people affected by mental health and/or substance misuse issues, including Tier 4 CAMHS services.
To promote effective practice that enables staff to identify Adult safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately.
To provide clinical support and supervision to the divisional MARAC Lead.
To provide line management to the Deputy Adult Safeguarding Lead for the Wigan Division.
To be a member of the Trusts Corporate Safeguarding Team with a particular focus on the Wigan Divisions safeguarding agenda.
To participate in the Corporate Safeguarding Teams Trust wide duty rota.
To share information, complete chronologies and analysis of practice in relation to single and multi-agency reviews.

- Significant experience of leadership role for Adult safeguarding.
- Clinical/safeguarding supervision experience.
- Practical experience of using safeguarding procedures and case working within a wide range of highly complex and challenging situations.
- Using clinical governance systems, including contribution to the design and implementation of audit.
- Evidence of post registration education and development relevant to safeguarding. Able to provide evidence of continuous professional development.
