Job overview

An exciting opportunity for an administer to work for the Single Point of Access (SPoA) Team within South Manchester Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).

The South Manchester CAMHS, Single Point of Access Team (SPoA) is a triage and assessment service for children, young people and families who are seeking support with their mental health. It aims to simplify the referral process and access to mental health support for children, young people, families and their professional network. This service is for children, young people and families who are registered with a South Manchester GP or who are experiencing an urgent mental health need while in the South Manchester area.

We are looking for an experienced and well organised administrator, with strong IT skills, who is able to work both in a team and independently. Should also be able to prioritise own workload whilst working a challenging and demanding environment.

This role is full time Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours and is based at the Carol Kendrick Centre, Wythenshawe.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative support service to the SPOA clinical team and patients as per duties detailed.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or equivalent.
  • A qualification in Business Studies at NVQ, HND or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant admin/secretarial experience
  • Experience of working in a busy administrative environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise workload
Desirable criteria
  • NHS / health related administration experience
  • Experience of using PARIS/patient electronic record
  • Experience of maintaining waiting lists

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Essential criteria
  • PC skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
Desirable criteria
  • An appreciation of the NHS, its infrastructure and partner healthcare organisations.
  • Knowledge of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, children / young people and their families in a polite and diplomatic manner.
