- To produce and report on financial information, assisting the Finance Business Partners, in providing information, financial support and advice to Senior Managers, Budget Holders and Clinical Directors.
- This includes the completion of the variance analysis to highlight key areas of deviation from agreed budgets, with reasons.
- To provide financial analysis and support to the Finance Management team.
Main duties of the job
To gather and produce data for inputting on the general ledger system, ensuring all income and expenditure is shown on the relevant cost centres by way of journaling.
Monitor performance against budgets, investigate variances and advise upon remedial action where necessary.
To provide budgetary control information within tight departmental timescales.
To deputise for the FBP’s when necessary at departmental review meetings, and provide the necessary supporting information.To provide financial advice to various levels of management within specific operational directorates.
To ensure that all relevant monthly adjustments including accruals and prepayments are performed to a tight financial timetable in order that the Senior Finance Business Partners and Assistant Director of Finance can complete the monthly board reports on time.
To ensure that a high quality service is provided to budget managers with queries being responded to in a timely manner

To assist the Senior Finance Business Partner in the annual budget setting process as required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 4 level in Accounting (AAT) or equivalent
- Word and Excel Skills, relevant IT training and experience.
Desirable criteria
- Business Administration/Finance NVQ
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of providing accounting services
- Demonstrated numeracy and literacy skills
- Computer literate to include spreadsheet, in depth financial knowledge gained through working in the NHS
- Knowledge of the Oracle Integrated Financial system
Desirable criteria
- The ability to raise debtor’s notifications for outstanding activity
- Knowledge of NHS VAT requirements
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of operating in a Finance role
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
