Job overview

Applications are invited for an exciting  breast clinician role. The Breast Clinician role encompasses the clinical and breast imaging services, providing a holistic approach to all aspects of breast disease diagnosis and management.

The successful candidate will be a registered doctor and will have completed the RCR/NIBA breast clinician training programme with credential or demonstrate equivalent post graduate breast imaging qualifications along with relevant breast imaging experience.

Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and be eligible to work in the UK.

Main duties of the job

As an integral member of the breast care team, the successful                 candidate will be involved in delivering screening and                               symptomatic breast imaging services and this will possibly      include:

·         Interpretation of screening mammograms, running assessment clinics, supporting the advanced practitioners and performing associated intervention.

·         New patient symptomatic clinics (including clinical and imaging assessment)

·         Working in and running family history clinics and a willingness to develop this service within the Trust.

·         Participating in MDT meetings

·         Optimising patient management

·         Commitment to Teaching

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB ChB or equivalent Registered with GMC
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a Breast unit

Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent) Completion of foundation training (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence that has spent some time researching the role and talking with those with experience in this area. Experience in a Breast Care Centre

Further Training, Management, Audit

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of recent CME/reasonable training progression at this stage of career. Experience of Audit project.

Research Teaching Publications

Essential criteria
  • Shows an interest in service development and teaching.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of interest in clinical teaching and mentoring.
  • Evidence of involvement in clinical research.

Personal Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Good written communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels. Evidence of good team working.
