Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic experienced individual to develop and lead integration of systems to the Trust EPR and Regional solutions.

The successful post holder will act as a service lead within the Integration team.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the development of integrated solutions, which will involve reviewing requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support. This will include integration of new and existing systems. Providing cost-effective, risk-controlled, robust, reliable, responsive and secure integration solutions. They will act as a subject matter expert and provide expert knowledge and direction on the field of healthcare integration to local and regional project boards.

The post holder will have core capabilities in dealing with wide range of stakeholders and the skills to propose, define and deliver appropriate solutions as well as assisting in the procurement, commissioning and monitoring of deliveries to integration projects. They will be able to work independently with users of IT systems, systems suppliers, information governance, clinical staff and other teams within the Trust in providing service.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree in IT or equivalent knowledge gained through development experience
  • Significant development experience or equivalent industry experience with evidence of continued technical development
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills related to interface tasks, ideally in a healthcare setting
  • Evidence of personal development
Desirable criteria
  • Cerner Millennium Development experience
  • Mirth Integration software experience
  • Knowledge of project management and methodologies, e.g., PRINCE 2

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to support integration solution, the transfer of data between clinical systems
  • Review, repair, and refactor existing interfaces
  • Able to learn new technologies and IT systems quickly through both self-study and professional courses
  • Experience and knowledge of complex computerised information systems, experience in a healthcare setting would be beneficial i.e., Cerner Millennium or another EPR
  • Substantial knowledge of HL7 formats and standards
  • Good communication skills, ability to establish and maintain good relationships with other team members and with service users, and to influence clinicians and managers, ability to communicate with non-computer literate staff at all levels
  • Commitment to share experience and knowledge and to keep others informed of issues of importance and relevance
  • Advanced analytical, and problem-solving skills to support complex solutions involving multiple technologies and finding appropriate solution using own initiative
  • Importance of equality, diversity and rights

Desirable criteria
  • Expert knowledge of integration including Millennium com server build, and Trust Integration Engine
  • Able to support .net based web, web api and service applications
  • Expert in object oriented Javascript, its concept and usage

  • Ability to develop databases to support application developments and integration
  • Knowledge of current NHS policy
