Job overview

To work alongside nursing/medical staff and family members to competently provide agreed clinical skills and individualised care for a child with complex health needs within the home, school and hospital environments, liaising with other professionals as necessary.   To accurately record, collate, monitor and provide feedback of patient information to the Team Leader and/or Care Manager, initiating actions as necessary.

Main duties of the job

  • At the direction of the senior member of staff assist in the delivery of planned nursing care for a child.
  • Ensure nursing practices are maintained with the Trust’s policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others. To apply them to the community environment.
  • Maintain  confidentiality,  integrity  and  sensitivity  to  the  individual  needs  of  the child/family.
  • Pay full regard to Health and Safety practices which include hand hygiene.  This must also include mandatory annual attendance to CPR, fire lecture, manual handling and child protection awareness

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in a related subject or NVQ Level 2 with significant experience
  • Care Certificate or completion of Care Certificate in post
  • Completed clinical competencies for clinical tasks and procedures as appropriate
  • Experience working in a clinical environment

  • Experience working in the NHS
