To provide specialist mobility, postural and pressure assessments, treatment and prescription for people with a permanent and substantial disability. Who require wheelchair and associated equipment provision, including postural management systems. Involving clients fully in the process of assessment and wheelchair provision. To contribute to maintaining an effective and efficient service and providing support to other team members.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
Screen referrals from multidisciplinary team, GP's, consultants and take appropriate action telephone calls, visits and clinics for each client.
To undertake comprehensive assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as working independently in a range of settings (clinics, schools, home, regional centre). Taking in to account the client's needs posture and environment and also the care / carer's needs.
From the assessment prescribe appropriate mobility and posture equipment and allocate accessories.
Communicate effectively with other health professionals, professionals in social care and voluntary sector as well as representatives from the supply companies to give a client centred and sensitive approach to provision of suitable equipment.
Manage caseload of client's through assessment, order and set up equipment and on-going monitoring and adjustment as appropriate.
Run specialist seating clinics in combination with specialist engineer to identify need for custom seating.
Deliver training for carers and clients in the use of equipment as well as deliver training for local Therapist in the assessment of wheelchair.
Supervision of Assistant Practitioners and support with Technical advise for modifications with wheelchair technician team.

Qualifications

- Degree (or Diploma) in Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy
- HCPC registered Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist
- Registered member of professional body (e.g. Royal College of Occupational Therapists or Chartered Society of Physiotherapists)
Knowledge/Experience

- Experience of working with service users with a variety of conditions/needs e.g. musculoskeletal, neurological, amputees, palliative conditions
- Evidence of multi professional working and collaborative team planning
- Experience in postural management
- Evidence of attending validated / specialist courses e.g. in postural management
- Commitment to and evidence of CPD
- Experience of audit, outcome measures and service statistics
