Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.

We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit dynamic candidates to work at the level of Senior Insight Analyst within our Analytics team.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must demonstrate essential requirements from the job description, key elements of this include;

  • Strong analytical numerical and statistical skills.
  • Ability to deal with staff of all grades.
  • Experience in using Excel / SQL / PowerBi
  • Ability to develop complex queries, manipulate data, design, present and explain reports.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Lead in developing the Business information reporting agenda in conjunction with Divisions.
  • To support the Divisions, senior management team and senior clinicians in the delivery of the core business of the Division.
  • To monitor and report on key local and Trust wide performance indicators.
  • Carry out ad-hoc reporting for the organisation to best practice agreed
  • Provide guidance to staff on the Trust’s information systems and PowerBi.
  • Contribute to the work set out in the Performance Framework and attend the Trust’s Division performance meetings , in particular in relation to improving data quality.
  • Design and writes highly complex business and analytics reports using SQL Server, Microsoft Excel and PowerBi

Education

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Able to demonstrate ongoing commitment to own personal development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Interpretation of information/presenting information in a meaningful manner
  • 4 years experience in NHS or Health related analytical role

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Advanced PC software skills including Excel, PowerBI and SQL
  • In depth knowledge of NHS datasets and data definitions.
  • Able to analyse and simplify complex problems
