·         To be a team member of Alder Hey’s Paediatric Physiotherapy team and as such, carry a complex caseload across acute neurosciences, oncology and neuromuscle; working in partnership with parents, carers education and other service providers to ensure a child centred approach to therapy.

·         To have responsibility for the delivery and co-ordination of high-quality Physiotherapy to children with a range of acute neurosciences, oncology and neuromuscular conditions and presentations.

·         To provide highly specialist and professional advice, education and liaison to parents, colleagues and all members of the multi-disciplinary team

·         To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a large caseload of complex neurosciences, oncology and neuromuscular patients. Working collaboratively to lead the therapy service in conjunction with the service leads.

·         To work as an autonomous clinician using highly developed clinical, analytical and judgment skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions/ training in patients within this specialty who are managed under the acute neurosciences, oncology and neuromuscular teams. This includes appropriately adapting the management of the child’s condition according to the child’s medical presentation and treatment.

·         To be directly involved in the clinical decision-making process, providing appropriate advice and education to families and colleagues to promote optimal therapy management.

·         To help develop the service, undertaking appropriate audits, be involved with the research activities (as a clinical evaluator and take part in academic studies) and service reviews and to be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, students and therapy support staff.

·         To provide a range of specialist individualised therapeutic interventions, supporting children through provision of highly specialist advanced clinical reasoning, to provide formulate and deliver individual treatment plans.

·         To organise this caseload effectively and efficiently regarding clinical priorities, time, and staffing levels.

·         To act as a lead therapist to assess, diagnose/interpret and manage own specialist caseload of complex patients as an autonomous practitioner in accordance with the CSP code of conduct and HCPC standards. To use highly developed analytical and judgment skills to be directly involved in the clinical decision-making process as part of the multidisciplinary team.

·         To provide highly specialist assessment and intervention in a range of settings. Delivering holistic highly specialist assessment of the child’s needs and providing treatment programmes to meet the child’s rehabilitation needs.

·         The post holder may be required to provide input to other areas of the service as required.

·         To build on previous experience enabling further development of clinical and managerial competencies, with responsibility for management and leadership of rotational staff and assistants within the team.  To supervise and support junior staff within these specialities and support across the Therapy service.
