Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

- The primary focus of the post is to ensure that the Trust provides high quality patient centered care as part of the Theatre department reflecting the beliefs outlined in the Trust objectives, values and vision. The practitioner will act as an advocate for patients and families, and will be a front-line advocate for the Trust.
- The practitioner will work towards in-depth knowledge of the theatre department and be involved with teaching and assessing members of staff against current Trust standards.
- The practitioner will deputise for the senior practitioner in their absence.
The practitioner will be responsible for their own professional conduct in line with NMC / HCPC Code of Conduct. They will adhere to and understand all Trust and local policies and procedures
Main duties of the job
The primary focus of the post is to ensure that all patients and families receive high quality patient centred care, reflecting the Trust objectives, values and vision.
At all times the practitioner will act as an advocate for patients and families, and will be a frontline advocate for the Trust.
The practitioner will provide effective clinical leadership for their designated area of responsibility, ensuring that high standards of clinical practice are adhered to at all times.
The practitioner will have extensive knowledge of theatre practice and be actively involved in the teaching and assessing of junior staff in line with current National and local standards and best practice.
All advanced practitioners will lead on one of the key elements of the theatre vision in their respective teams; Patient Safety, Staff Well-being, Quality and Assurance, Productivity and Performance
The practitioner will on occasion be expected to deputise for other senior members of the theatre team
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a regional tertiary referral centre for a range of paediatric diseases as well as a major trauma centre. The theatre department at Alder Hey provides a 24/7 service to and all staff are expected to contribute to this cover. The practitioner will be responsible for their own professional conduct in line with NMC / HPC
Code of Conduct.
