Job overview

To coordinate the day to day ECG and non invasive service provision.

To ensure that ECG’s are recorded in line with departmental policies, and monitor quality control of the ECG service.

To assist Cardiac Physiologists in designated clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

Involves, but not limited to; 12 lead ECG, Ambulatory 24-hour ECG, 24-hour blood pressure hook-up and download, supporting exercise tolerance testing / stress echocardiography, supporting transoesophageal echocardiography, supporting implantable loop (LINQ) service, administrative duties for ZIO Holter service and remote Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device clinics, general running of the non-invasive areas in both LHCH and Knowsley Community sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1          To record ECG’s in designated places throughout LHCH.

2          To comply with departmental policy ensuring optimal quality recordings.

3          Demonstrates empathy when dealing with patients in distressing conditions.

4          To be proficient at basic & advanced ECG interpretation.

5          To ensure that all data is appropriately recorded and archived in line with departmental procedures.

6          Participate as a 2nd person in CP led Exercise testing.

7          Assists in monitoring and maintaining quality of services within Cardiac Diagnostics.

8          Ensures that individual own level of practice is kept up to date with current developments in the field of Cardiology.

19        Attach/removal and downloading of Ambulatory Monitoring equipment.

10        Assists CP during a wide spread range of diagnostic investigations such as Echocardiography, Pacemaker Follow Up, TOE and Linq implant.

11        In line with Departmental and Professional body’s guidance actively

participates in Identification and development of roles where assistance could be beneficial.

12        To communicate effectively with patients.

13        To communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

14        To ensure correct maintenance and cleaning of equipment adhering to Trust and departmental policies.

15        Active involvement in risk assessment, Health & Safety, Infection control.

16        Help in maintaining appropriate stock control.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Degree in Healthcare Science or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Practical 12 lead ECG
  • Application of 24-hour ECG monitors
  • Application of 24-hour blood pressure monitors
  • Knowledge of exercise tolerance testing and stress echo
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting transoesophageal echo
Desirable criteria
  • Assisting with implantable loop recorders
