Radiology Department Assistant (RDA) Band 3 (37.5 hours per week) 12 month Maternity leave cover.         

We have an exciting opportunity for a Radiology department assistant to work across both MRI and CT departments at Liverpool heart and Chest Hospital.

You will be an integral part of a team; committed to delivering the highest quality clinical outcomes in a supported environment, where you will be valued for your skills and expertise.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Radiology Department Assistant (RDA), to work within the Radiology Department at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Radiology experience is not essential, as training will be provided; although we are looking for Health care assistant with at least 3yrs experience. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and provide a high standard of patient-centred care, demonstrate compassion and empathy, improving the quality of care and enthusiastic and motivated.

                                                                   

Main duties of the job

 

  1. Prepare patients for the examination or procedure taking account of patients’ needs and cultural differences
  2. Undertake a range of clinical tasks/ procedures relevant to area of work e.g. venepuncture, cannulation as required for patients undergoing CT and MR examination
  3. Undertake a range of patient observations as required in the clinical area e.g. pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, ECG 
  4. Produce high quality 12 Lead ECG as and when required
  5.  Escort / transport patients within the Department chaperoning where necessary and be responsible for patient comfort and wellbeing.
  6. Assist patients on and off the examination tables.
  7. Ensure that patients are treated with courtesy at all times, the individual needs of the patients are respected, and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  8. To communicate effectively with patients by listening to their concerns reassuring them by giving information and where appropriate communicating information to other members of the Directorate team.
  9. Measure, record and monitor patient’s physiological readings as required
  10. Assist in the cleaning/infection control measures of scanners at the end of day
  11.  Use of IT systems used in the department including CRIS & communicate effectively using computer systems within the Trust
  12. Ensure the safe custody of patients’ valuables and property.
  13.  Contribute to the provision of a safe environment for all patients, relatives, friends and hospital visitors.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will participate, as part of the team, in the delivery of clinical care within MRI, CT and Ultrasound.

Working to defined protocols the post holder will provide assistance to the imaging team by performing basic clinical patient care, general housekeeping and clerical duties.

  • Clinical experience within a healthcare setting for +3yrs
  • Experience in administering direct patient care.
  • Compassionate to the needs of others, such as when dealing with patients, families, and staff.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the service.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, written and or verbal
  • Demonstrate experience of supporting a team
  • GCSE – Pass in English & Maths or equivalent qualification
  • Level 3 in Healthcare
Desirable criteria
  • Intravenous Cannulation: Certification
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG): Certification
  • Capable of working on own initiative
  • Committed to delivering the highest quality clinical care and raising standards in clinical area
  • Basic computer skills

Qulifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE – Pass in English & Maths or equivalent qualification
  • Level 3 in Healthcare
  • Previous clinical experience in a similar role within the last 3 years.
  • Experience of direct patient care.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the service.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and or verbal
  • Experience of supporting a team
  • Compassion shown when dealing with patients, families, and staff.

  • Intravenous Cannulation
