Job overview

This is an exciting time to join our Catering Team for the NHS at Broadgreen Hospital Hospital.

We have a post managing a team of host/hostess who work within our ward kitchens, ensuring that we provide an excellent food and patient experience.

The Assistant Catering Manager works as part of a team delivering
catering services to the Trust and performs duties in accordance with the
site specification.
The post holder will ensure a high standard of service is maintained in all areas
of responsibility and will work in the required manner to ensure that an
efficient service is provided at all times. 

Main duties of the job

To assist the Catering services manager with the day to day management of
external contracts and suppliers.
To be flexible in their working hours as so to carry out duties to sustain operational
demands
To ensure that all staff mandatory training is completed as per the required
compliance
To ensure that all areas are appropriately staffed in accordance with the master rota
to ensure the required level of service is delivered
At the direction of the catering services manager to undertake a range of projects
involving multidisciplinary teams to critically evaluate new methods of working and
initiatives directed by the Trust

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To allocate tasks and responsibilities to the catering supervisory team and take the
necessary steps to ensure the specified service is provided.
To liaise with Ward Managers and be proactive in resolving
Difficulties in order to build and maintain good working relationships.
Working with the catering management and retail outlets to ensure achieve our
targets, in relation to profit and service.
Work towards the Trust HACCP Policy.
Attend meetings as requested with both managers and service users.
Carry out regular Supervisor 1-1 meetings to assist in effective two-way
communication and to communicate the Trust’s aims and objectives to Supervisors
to then cascade to catering staff
Control staffing worked hours, organising workloads fairly and ensuring that labour
hours are kept within the master rota.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of catering or retail services management
  • Experience of working as a catering or retail operative within a non-healthcare environmen
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of catering or retail services management within a healthcare environment
  • Experience of working as a catering or retail assistant within a healthcare environmen

Knowledge
