Band 6
Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Dietetic team as a Specialist Nutrition Support Dietitian. This role involves providing specialist dietetic care to Upper Gastro-Intestinal (UGI) Cancer inpatients and outpatients (non-operable) and complex nutrition support inpatients at Aintree University Hospital.
You will be an integral member of the Dietetic team managing the nutritional care of medical and surgical patients who are requiring complex nutrition support. The post holder will provide timely specialist Dietetic assessment for these patients with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in complex nutrition support, supporting discharges on home enteral feeds, MDT working, supervision of junior staff and student training.
You will be supported by the Nutrition and Senior Dietetic Teams and have regular clinical supervision to support you in your role and any development needs you may have.
The Dietetic team is highly respected within the Trust and a high focus is placed upon nutritional care.
Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from suitably experienced Band 5 Dietitians and those already working at a Band 6 level who are enthusiastic to learn and are ready for a new challenge at a Band 6 level.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a practical, forward-thinking approach to service development and evaluation and the ability to work as part of a large team.
This post requires a proactive approach where you contribute to innovation, service development and audit. You will be supported with your personal development goals and have regular clinical supervision and peer support. You will work closely day to day with a range of Medical, Nursing and AHP staff to support the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
You will also be involved with supervision of Student Dietitians and Graduate Dietitians as part of your role, so strong leadership and communication skills are essential. You will work closely with the wider team to identify any quality issues within the service, contribute to local governance meetings and provide education for patients, staff and colleagues.
