Fellowship with a special interest in Otology, Neurotology/Skull Base
Aintree Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a fellow to the Directorate of ENT. There is one post available 1 year clinical Fellowship in Otology, Neurotology / Adult Skull Base surgery commencing 5th August 2026.
These posts are aimed at candidates approaching the end of their higher surgical training with the FRCS ORL-HNS or equivalent, or post CCT. Prospective candidates should have completed at least ST7 or equivalent higher surgical training in Otolaryngology.
The person appointed will work at the Aintree site and will be a member of the ENT Directorate. On call commitments are 1:9 prospective night and day time cover.

Main duties of the job
A bi-weekly skull base MDT takes place in a designated video-conference linked MDT room. Specialist NF2 MDT’s occur on a 6 monthly basis. The department is supported by a state of the art audiological service providing all aspects of audio-vestibular investigations and rehabilitation. The hospital runs many national and international training courses.
The successful candidate would help in the organisation and running of the yearly otology and temporal bone dissection course. The department is committed to both research and audit work and the successful candidate will have access to an enormous amount of clinical outcome data from which they can develop their own research / audit interests.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The candidate trained in all aspects of lateral skull base and neuro-otological procedures. There may also be opportunity of some exposure to anterior skull base and extended endoscopic anterior skull base surgery. The successful candidate will have a central role in the preparation and presentation of patients in the MDT.
