Experienced ACP in Emergency Medicine with documented experience in advanced practice within the emergency setting
The post holder will practice as an autonomous advanced practitioner within the Acute and Emergency Care. Working alongside senior medical team, the post holder will examine, assess, diagnose and treat patients within their scope of professional practice.
The job is practically based, intended to ensure skills and knowledge are related to high quality care and efficient service delivery, including achievement of national targets.
Main duties of the job
Working across the pillars of advanced practice to deliver high level of care, leadership, education and research on the emergency floor
Key role of this job is the assessment and management of the unfiltered and undifferentiated patients presenting to the department across a wide range of acuity

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Contribute to the development of an excellent clinical environment which is conducive to delivering high quality patient care and the achievement of excellence in service delivery.
• Work as an autonomous practitioner within Acute and Emergency Care demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and skills in relation to the assessment and management of patients.
• Undertake full clinical assessment and examination of patients, providing a detailed medical history.
• Order/perform investigations and diagnostic tests as required.
• Interpret test results, where possible diagnose and initiate treatment plan.
• Refer patients appropriately to medical staff/MDT as required.
• Effectively communicate with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Team.
• .Assist in the production of discharge summaries.
• Ensure follow up appointments/arrangements are made.
• Actively participate in the development of care pathways, guidelines and protocols as appropriate.
• Interview and support patients and their relatives.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Nursing
- Active professional portfolio
- Specialist Acute and Emergency Care nursing qualification Life support qualification
Desirable criteria
- - Nurse Prescriber (V300)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience at senior nurse in Acute and Emergency Care
- Autonomous practitioner
- Experience in teaching at clinical level
- Recent experience of service development
- Experience of establishing positive working relationships with other disciplines
- Operational staff management experience
- Experience of working with patients from diverse cultural, social ethnic backgrounds - Experience of inter-agency working
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clear understanding of nursing and policy issues
- An understanding of the relationship between Primary and Secondary Care.
