Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Supply Chain Team Leader within the  Endoscopy unit  Royal hospital 

The successful candidate will  be  responsible for the receipt, storage, distribution and supply of goods within the endoscopy unit 
 Manage all matters relating to the stock holding, receipting and
distribution of goods accepted by stores. 
 Resolve customer and supplier enquires relating to the service
provision.
Support staff and service users in the roll out and ongoing use of
inventory management systems

Main duties of the job

To ensure adequate stock control to ensure service runs smoothly 

To lead the supply chain assistants responsible for providing stock
control, re-ordering and supply services in accordance with Trust
procedures.

 To oversee stock control procedures off-loading of goods, and
receipting of items to ensure appropriate storage and delivery to the
agreed locations in a reliable, timely, and convenient manner using
inventory management systems provided.

To support, monitor and review the activities of the team to ensure that
they provide a service to the agreed level.

To develop the service with the supply chain manager to meet the
changing requirements of customers and the external market.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To designate roles within the team and use negotiation and
persuasive skills to solve problems.
 To support Team members with procurement advice for allocated
savings projects
 Providing information on relevant UK purchasing legislation and the
Trust’s SFI’s.
To provide a first check on the quality of the goods received and to
report any obvious damage or discrepancies in according with trust
procedures.
 To check the accuracy of the supporting documentation of delivered
goods.

To ensure the offloading of deliveries and restocking the storage
areas to agreed levels is carried out by the team with in the ward and
departments in receipt of service and break down cages for collection
To dispose of waste packaging in line with trust waste management
policy
 To re-order the agreed range of goods to the predetermined stock
levels by utilising the electronic ordering system used within the trust.
 Provide a service to customers throughout the trust and external
customers in a timely and convenient manner.
 To assist with any specific project work on behalf of the supply chain
manager or senior Procurement officer.
Liaise and work with procurement staff and service users

To identify the cost implications of budget pressures to budget holders
on a regular basis.
To help develop the service provided to customers in response to
their requirement and changes within the trust and external markets.
Achieve stakeholder support and sign off to any changes in the
service provided.
 Work with end users to offer advice on alternatives which may
produce savings.
To work to solve problems and differences using negotiation and
persuasive skills.
 To achieve sign off of prospective benefits enabling Trust
stakeholders to contribute to SFIP achievement

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant NVQ 3 Stores Management/Customer Services /CIPS qualification or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of Stock Control Systems
  • Computer literate with detailed knowledge of basic computer packages e.g. e-Procurement Systems, Email, Excel
  • Manage sickness/absence and organise cover from within the team to ensure main duties are covered.
  • Ability to work to timetables / deadlines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of UK Procurement Rules

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience as stores and supplies team leader in a fast moving environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in providing statistical analysis effectively.
  • Customer services experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to manage a team of supply chain assistants ensuring full coverage of all supply chain activities across the Trust.
  • Ability to create and maintain good working relationships inside and outside of the department.
  • Well organised with a systematic approach to work.
  • Ability to effectively manage discrepancies, incorrect deliveries and notify suppliers/finance of any adjustments.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, good standard of oral and written communication.
