An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Ventilation Inpatient Centre as a Housekeeper, working 37.5 hours per week.
The Ventilation Inpatient Centre provides care for a large number of respiratory patients and is a busy, demanding and exciting service.
As a Housekeeper you support the senior nursing team by ensuring the ward is clean, safe, comfortable and conductive to patient care, that is beneficial for both patients and their visitors.
This is a busy, physically active role which requires excellent communication , interpersonal skills & IT skills. If you are highly motivated, work well within a team environment and hold the essential skills and experience please apply and join our successful organisation.
Main duties of the job
You will be assisting the Nursing team to provide high quality of care to our patients by ensuring that:
- Disseminating good practice to ward teams to ensure service is maintained in their absence.
- Providing an efficient housekeeping service, ensuring that high standards are always maintained.
- Ensuring that a friendly, welcoming, clean, organised, safe and comfortable working environment is provided for patients, visitors and staff.
- Patients are cared for in a well maintained environment which is safe, welcoming comfortable and reassuring.
- There is enough clean linen to meet patient needs.
- Effective communication is used to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Patients are confident that supplies are available at all times.
- Patients privacy and dignity is respected at all times.
- Patients and carers receive a level of customer care relevant to their needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Clean and tidy areas assigned to you at least once per shift.
- In conjunction with domestic staff, ensure that the cleanliness of the ward and staff areas meet the standards set by Matron / Senior Sister.
- Ensure all faulty equipment is decontaminated and relevant documentation completed before being sent for repair.
- Ensure adequate supplies of clean linen are available and that stock levels are maintained as required.
- Respect patients’ privacy and dignity at all times.
- Participate in the provision of a level of customer care, relevant to the needs of patients and carers.
- Contribute to the promotion of a safe working environment and participate in Moving and Handling including equipment and stock and Fire Safety practices.
- In conjunction with the ward staff, contribute to the reduction of hospital acquired infection by ensuring that all infection control standards for ward and personal hygiene are maintained.
