Job overview
A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative registered nurse to join the Occupational Health team and be involved in providing a proactive Occupational Health service to all the staff at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group and external clients.
The Occupational Health nurse will work autonomously in clinics and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to deliver a comprehensive Occupational Health service that meets the occupational health and wellbeing needs of the Trust and external contracts.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of occupational health work relevant to the banding, including pre-employment and fitness to assessments, immunisation programmes, health surveillance, management of sharps/contamination injuries, and health promotion.
This post will suit an organised, forward-thinking person who has excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident with using a variety of IT packages and is able to work independently and enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Assist and undertake new employee health assessments for Occupational Health clients, advising managers of any recommendations relating to a candidate’s suitability against a specific risk assessment, supported by a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health.
2. Undertake occupational immunisations in line with the ‘Green Book’ recommendations. This is undertaken in line with the local Occupational Health Written Instruction.
3. Undertake the management of inoculation injuries supported by a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health in line with Trust policy and Occupational Health standard operating procedures
4. Provide initial confidential support and advice for employees following incidents such as inoculation injuries, infection control, work-related incidents/issues.
5. Provide initial confidential support and advice for employees experiencing stress, bereavement, violence to employees etc and refer onto appropriate support services.
6. Working with multidisciplinary teams, including Occupational Health Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Psychologists, to support employee health initiatives.
7. Participating in workplace health promotion activities and initiatives to enhance overall employee health and reduce absenteeism.
8. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes to ensure continuity of care and compliance with legal requirement.
9. To assist in ensuring that adequate supplies of vaccines and other sundries are maintained within the Occupational Health Department and satellite clinics.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
