We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for permanent full-time Band 5 Radiographers within the plain film Radiology department based at the New Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Liverpool is a vibrant City within easy access to many areas of outstanding natural beauty and providing access to a host of recreational activities. The cultural heritage of the city is well documented – but musically, theatrically and architecturally Liverpool is a “gem” of the north. There is an exciting mix of both modern and historic architecture which makes for a great living experience. There is a wide choice of accommodation within a 30 minute drive from the hospital.

Our service provides imaging for several speciality services including: Limb recon, Orthopaedic theatres, AED, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, HPB, Cardiology and more. 

You will gain experience in all aspects of general Radiography and will be required to work on a rotational shift basis, which includes days, nights and weekends. We also provide rotation to our satellite sites based within the community centres and Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Applicants must have current HCPC registration and have recent clinical experience in an NHS environment or be a student Radiographer undertaking clinical experience in an NHS setting.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Royal Liverpool University site consists of 2 Radiology departments, our A&E Department has 2 DR rooms and a DR OPG unit, providing cover for the Emergency department and surrounding wards. The Main x-ray department comprises of 3 DR rooms, 1 Fluoroscopy room and Theatre and mobiles, where you will provide outpatient and inpatient services, open access GP care and a wide variety of specialised and interesting theatre cases.

You will also rotate through 4 Satellite Sites:

1) Dental Hospital, where you will provide an array of assorted imaging including cone beam CT, Special care and children.

2) Broadgreen Hospital site covering a variety of diverse theatre services including limb reconstruction, Pain management, and also a variety of fluoroscopy procedures.

3&4) York Centre and South Liverpool Treatment Centre community sites

There is an expectation that you will be prepared to work flexibly to fit in with service needs this will include “on call”, night shifts, evening shifts and weekend working.

All new staff are supported with a structured training and development programme supported by mentors which we run in conjunction with the Hospital preceptorship programme. We also have a dedicated team of reporting radiographers in plain film imaging and there is the opportunity to become part of the QA team, infection control and participate in clinical audits.

CLINICAL

1. Performance of clinical radiographic duties as delegated by the
Superintendent Radiographer in each section.
2. Participate in the radiographic rotation.
3. To participate in departmental planned out of hours working and the radiographic on-call rota.
4. To participate in multi-disciplinary team working.
5. To practice within the rules of the Health Professions Council.
6. To ensure effective communication with patients, carers and all healthcare professionals about all aspects of patient care.
7. To maintain accurate documentation pertinent to the examination.
8. Assist in training of student radiographers and assistant practitioners.


RADIATION PROTECTION
1. Ensure radiation doses to every patient are as low as reasonably
achievable (ALARA) consistent with a diagnostic result.
2. To work to radiographic protocols and policies as required under the ionising radiation regulations.
3. To comply with IR(ME)R 2000 & IRR’99. 

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
1. All employees have a duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves or to others and to co-operate with the Trust in meeting its statutory requirements.
2. To comply with departmental and organisational policies and procedures including reporting of all accidents and incidents.
3. Monitor the condition of equipment within the Radiology area advising of any defects in equipment or systems thus providing an early warning for potential hazards.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
1. To actively participate in the in-service training programme within the department.
2. To attend relevant training courses as identified and agreed with senior staff and managers during staff appraisal sessions.
3. To disseminate information from training sessions as required.
4. Participate and contribute to the staff development programme and educational activities.
5. Maintenance of an up-to-date CPD portfolio.
