Are you an experienced Radiographer looking to take the next step in your career within a supportive and progressive NHS Trust? Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated and skilled Band 6 Radiographer to join our Imaging team, working across both MRI and CT.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic department that values professional development, team collaboration, and delivering excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Radiographer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality imaging services, working three long days per week on a rolling rota (MRI and CT). Occasional support in general X-ray and participation in the CT and X-ray out-of-hours on-call rota are also part of the role.

You’ll be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism while also supporting junior colleagues and contributing to ongoing service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Perform a range of MRI and CT imaging procedures, primarily for outpatients

Support occasional general X-ray work to maintain on-call competencies.

Operate independently in both specialist and general areas, using clinical judgement and adhering to IR(ME)R and MRI safety guidelines.

Justify imaging referrals and ensure all imaging is carried out safely and appropriately.

Use advanced software tools in CT and MRI to produce diagnostic images and measurements.

Assess diagnostic image quality and adapt techniques when required to optimise outcomes.

Administer IV contrast media safely in line with PGDs, including patient screening and aftercare.

Maintain competency in IV cannulation and contrast administration.

Liaise effectively with clinical teams, referrers, and other departments to streamline service delivery.

Work independently while recognising limitations and seeking guidance when needed.

Provide mentorship, support, and supervision to student radiographers, junior staff, and new starters.

Participate in multi-disciplinary team working and contribute to continuous service improvements.

Deputise for the service lead as needed.

Participate in equipment testing and quality assurance processes.

Ensure adherence to departmental protocols, SOPs, and safety legislation at all times.

Uphold the highest standards of patient care, maintaining professionalism and compassion in every interaction.

 
 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • DCR or Degree in Radiography
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate of cannulation
  • Post graduate qualification in CT and or MRI

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of experience in general x-ray, CT and MRI
  • Extensive clinical experience to include the following: Plain film radiography, Fluoroscopic procedures, CT and or MRI
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the principles of CT/MR
  • Ability to adapt radiographic technique to encompass a wide range of patient requirements
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience of CRIS and PACS
  • Knowledge of MR safety issues to enable staff, carers and other staff to be aware of the hazards in MRI
  • Participation in research
  • Participation in clinical audit as a method of quality improvement
  • Evidence of presentation skills
